Анотація
Мета цього дослідження – визначити основну тематику публікацій, що відображали процеси протверезіння суспільства наприкінці ХІХ – на початку ХХ ст. Об’єктом дослідження обрано пресу кількох груп періодики: маcову, духовно-релігійну, спеціалізовану (медичну, наукову, виробничо-практичну, антиалкогольну), що висвітлювали питання виробництва спиртних напоїв та протидії алкоголізму. Серед методів дослідження – моніторинг масиву періодики більшості губерній Наддніпрянщини кінця ХІХ – початку ХХ ст., методи класифікації, історичний, логічний, описовий, узагальнення. З’ясовано, що відповідно до призначення періодичних видань дискусія велася здебільшого у двох напрямках: 1) відстоювання культури виноградарства й хмелю, піднесення виноградно-винної та пивної промисловості, боротьба з фальсифікацією напоїв; заперечення не самого алкоголю, а алкоголізму; 2) охорона народного здоров’я, застосування на всіх рівнях заходів щодо подолання пияцтва й алкоголізму, що загрожують життю й добробуту народів багатьох країн.
